Does anyone have much experience with animal husbandry without pens? Is it at all practical? I do realize I'll have to actively purge predators across the map. But I dont have those options available in their menu. Not all animals can be held in pens, some are zone-able (for example elephants), you can never rope them anywhere, but can them assign to zones. The colony lives on fungus turned into paste. 459K subscribers in the RimWorld community. Pens can help to ensure that animals aren’t able to escape your colony. It does not grow enough nutritions on its own so I made a stockpile for hay there. Apparently I am able to train horses to guard, carry, etc, but I am unable to allow the horses to roam out of the pen, because they wonder off. Making a caravan is not required to tie animals to a caravan hitching spot. This creates a pen for tamed animals.
